About the founders
BBDS was created by Jolene and Long of Bettermade, a Sydney design agency working with B2B SaaS companies, with 20 years across design, tech, and even a bakery.
They built BBDS to close the gap between having a great brand to start and keep up the appearances.
Off the clock: two kids, Taco the Frenchie, lifting 5x5 at the bym, and coming in second place at a tennis tournament in Sydney.
Building for the Al era
Designers lead, AI follows.
AI can produce brand work now. We've all seen it, and it's good enough to pass. But something is usually missing, the thing we call soul. A brand exists so a company can speak to people on a human level, and when that work is led by AI, it often feels off, a little mechanical.
If a brand is how a company, or a person, communicates with others, shouldn't a human be the one leading it? Deciding what to say, and how it should feel, is a judgment only we can make. AI can arrange and repeat, but it doesn't understand the emotional side of us, and that was never its job.

So this is where we stand. We want to keep designing, and to keep designing for brands. At the same time, we know AI is now a real part of how we work, and we want to figure out how to work alongside it. We don't have the whole answer yet, and we won't get there in one leap. The goal is a way for designers to work with AI, and still hold on to the control, and the creativity, that make the work ours.
It's why we're building BBDS: a system that holds your brand decisions today, and grows into a way of working with AI without giving up the lead. We don't have it all worked out yet, and we're building it in the open.
